Thumbing a Nose at High Caregiver Turnover

“Heidey is an inspiration to the residents and a Manager that is looked up to by the others”, says Owner Nadine Carlson. “I have enjoyed helping her grow and enhance her well developed skills as a Caregiver.” I interviewed Heidey recently to better understand her motivation and reasons she loves being a caregiver and working at Ascension Health II.

Nadine: How do your values, translate into your choice of work as a Caregiver?
Heidey: I greatly value taking care of each other, loyalty, respect and compassion. All of these attributes can be applied in my work as a Caregiver.

Nadine: What do you like about working for Ascension Health II?
Heidey: Open communication and helping each other.

Nadine: What events happen regularly in your home that makes you excited to come to work?
Heidey: We have good support staff that I can count on while I am gone. There are typically no surprises when I come back from my weekend. We have a routine that we can all count on to make the days run smoothly.

Nadine: What qualities do you associate with Ascension Health homes?
Heidey: We all care about our Homes. We care about the people that we take care of. We care for each other! It’s the best employer that I have worked for.
