Labor Day Event – 2017

It was a beautiful day with a summer breeze and pillowy clouds in a soft blue sky! Twelve residents from Ascension Health I and Ascension Health III, Managers Amy and Kaz, Director Amanda and Owner Nadine came to the pool party in Grand Rapids, MI to enjoy Labor Day!!

The pool water was cool and blue. The chatter was full of conversation about the residents favorite animals, the latest news happening in their lives, requests for more food and drinks. As staff took care and interacted with each of the residents, a lot of laughter and smiles were shared!

We all enjoyed the wonderful selection of home-cooked choices from Nadine and Amanda!! Italian porketta sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls with Barbecue sauce, whipped cream pudding fruit salad, potato salad and spinach pasta salad filled each and every belly.  Trudy says, “The fruit salad medley is her favorite dish!” Kaz said, “How did you make that pork. It’s so delicious!”.

Dessert was homemade vanilla popsicles dipped in chocolate coating! It was easy to  tell by the chocolate rings around many of their mouths and empty popsicle sticks that the dessert was a hit! Kaz said that on their ride home, “All the ladies could talk about on the way home was how much fun they had!”. Amy reported, “Everyone kept saying the food was really good and they had fun!.”

Planning for the next event has already begun! Amy and Kaz are busy getting the details complete for a 50’s Pizza Party this Fall. We can’t wait to report all the details, once they are complete!!
