My name is Shannon Miller. I am the House Manager of Ascension Health I. I first discovered I had a passion for caring for others when I was 15 while taking care of my Grandmother. Since then I have always chosen paths that lead me to caring for people. First, I am a mother of 8 which makes me a natural caregiver. I also served in the MI National Guard as a Human Resource Specialists and later a Combat Medic. In addition, I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and have completed my Associated degree in Applied Science for Medical Assisting. Currently, I am a Certified Home Health Aide/Manager.
I enjoy working with and caring for the residents I work with. I delight in taking care of their many needs and helping them achieve their goals. I feel the elderly gave so much of themselves to this country and their families that it is our responsibility as the younger generation to treat each resident with respect, compassion, and the best care possible.
Its important to me that each person maintains their individuality, independence and dignity. Working as a House Manager gives me many wonderful opportunities to help each resident achieve this goal. I also take pleasure in listening and learning from each of their life stories. It brings me great pleasure to see them light up with joy because I truly take an interest in their lives and well-being.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
